My Boyfriend has Sleep Apnea and Won’t Stop Snoring!
Make the snoring stop, please help! My boyfriend has sleep apnea and has really annoying snoring. It seems to be getting worse as he gets older. I don’t know how to handle this situation. If I wake him by elbowing him, he will stop for a very short time but it isn’t long enough for me to fall asleep. It has really been hindering me from getting a good night sleep lately. It wakes me up multiple times in the night. Any advice or suggestions?

Was the sleep apnea professionally diagnosed by a sleep clinic? Without having seen him in person it is hard to make specific recommendations. Sometimes snoring is influenced by weight or other environmental factors. So first of all, make sure the diagnosis is accurate.
One of the most common treatments for sleep apnea is a positive air flow machine, called a CPAP. Truthfully, many individuals don’t like using the CPAP machine because it tends to be uncomfortable and is noisy. But if your boyfriend has episodes where he actually stops breathing and the oxygen level plunges, there could be very serious health issues. In extreme cases, the consequences can be fatal.
You may consider approaching a dentist about his condition too. There are other sleep apnea treatments available on the market today. For example, the SomnoDent Appliance is a mouthpiece that is worn at night. It simply repositions the mouth, enabling the airway to remain open and stops the snoring. It is very effective and is made to fit snugly and comfortably.
First thing is first, get to the root of the problem. Make sure it truly is sleep apnea that your boyfriend suffers from so a proper treatment can be utilized.
