What are porcelain veneers?
I’ve been hearing a lot about porcelain veneers. Can you tell me how they work to improve your smile?

Trying to achieve a picture perfect smile can be challenging. In researching some of the best options to achieve the look you want, you may have come across porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are wafer thin pieces of porcelain bonded to the front of your teeth to create a cosmetic improvement, while providing strength and resilience like a natural tooth. Porcelain veneers can perfect any smile, being a successful option to teeth that have been discolored, have poor shape or contour, fractures or gaps.
The process is relatively quick and painless. The first step is consulting with your experienced cosmetic dentist to see if porcelain veneers are right for you. Once your desired outcome including color, shape, and size is determined, preparation will be underway. About 1/8 inch of tooth enamel will be removed from the front and biting edge of your teeth. Then, an impression will be taken and sent to a lab where the dental veneers will be created. During this time, your dentist will fit you with a temporary mock-up of your veneers. It is this “trial” that will allow you to see a version of the finished product. When the veneers come back from the lab, they will be affixed to your teeth with adhesive, smoothed, and polished.
Porcelain veneers can erase any dental imperfection. They look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. They are resistant to stains and easy to clean. With a proper hygiene regimen, porcelain veneers can give you a bright vibrant smile for years.
