Loose Front Teeth
I fell down last week and knocked my front teeth pretty good. I couldn’t see anything wrong at first but they were very tender and sore feeling. Now I think they may be loose. Is this serious? Should I see a dentist?

Yes, please get into the dentist right away. The trauma from your fall may have caused more damage to your teeth than you realize. If they are loose, there is a possibility that the nerves may be damaged or the ligaments that support the teeth may be impacted. It is also a possibility that the tooth roots are broken. It is likely that your dentist will want to take x-rays to assess the damage. The x-rays will help to diagnose everything properly.
If the damage has not impacted the nerves or the tooth roots, than it is possible that a dental splint or retainer may need to be used to stabilize the teeth. One other thing worth mentioning is that if there has been damage done to the nerve it may not be visible right away so you need to watch out for a tooth infection. Symptoms with a tooth infection include a headache, sensitivity to hot or cold, or pressure. A root canal treatment will take care of the infection and a porcelain crown will be placed over the tooth to protect it from further damage.
Unfortunately, if the root of the tooth is cracked than it may need to be extracted. Dental implants or a dental bridge can be used to replace a missing tooth.
