Gum is Getting Stuck in My Dental Flipper!
I am missing one tooth from a silly accident and my dentist has talked me into getting a dental implant to replace it. But in the meantime, I’m supposed to wear this dental flipper. It could end up being for a couple of months that I have to wear it and I am a habitual gum chewer. The other day when I was chewing gum, it got stuck all over it. It was disgusting and very difficult to remove. Do you know of a good way to prevent this?

Your dentist should have explained that you probably should not be chewing gum with a dental flipper. The appliance is similar in construction to a retainer so if you keep it up, you will continually be messing it up. If gum gets stuck in it again, do your best to clean it up with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Never use bleach or other cleaning agents on an appliance like this.
Once you make it through the dental implant process and your implant has been surgically implanted into your jawbone, you can return to your old ways. Having a dental implant should be just like your normal teeth. So once it’s all done, you won’t have to worry about it sticking to it. You will just go about your normal dental hygiene routine, with regular brushing and flossing, as well as regular dental cleanings and exams.
Try to stop the gum chewing for now if you can!
