A dental bridge can also be a good option for many patients who are only missing one or two teeth.

In the past, a removable partial denture was the best choice for dental restoration in patients who were missing several teeth. These appliances replace your missing teeth by clamping on to your existing teeth on either side of the missing section. With dental implants, you can now have permanent teeth that can look and feel the same as your natural teeth.

The Dental Implant Process

Below are a few images depicting a typical dental implant procedure. If you are unsure if dental implants can work for you, please contact us today to learn more, or to schedule a consultation with Dr. Chal for more personalized information.

1. Before the Dental Implant Procedure

In this first image, a common situation is depicted. Several teeth toward the back of the mouth are missing. Without a rear tooth to anchor to, a dental bridge cannot work. Although it is possible to fashion a removable partial denture to restore the area, it is not advisable – due to the heavy biting forces in this area, the tooth that the partial denture is attached to can become weakened. In cases like this, dental implants are the best possible restorative option.

2. Installing the Dental Implants

First, the dental implants are placed below your gum line. These implants consist of a titanium post that is designed to act as a tooth root. The post is anchored along the jawbone. In most cases, a period of several months is required to allow the implant to bond with the bone, making it permanent. During this healing period a temporary crown can be used. If appropriate, however, Dr. Chal can place teeth-in-an-hour through a specialized and advanced technique.

3. Dental Implant Restoration

As shown in the picture, this particular case is using multiple teeth that are attached together. These restorations are custom-made for each patient in Dr. Chal’s laboratory, so they will fit properly. They can be color-matched, as well, so they blend in naturally with the surrounding teeth.

4. Final result

Dental implants are designed to look, act, and feel like natural teeth. Form and function can be returned to your teeth, and the benefits can be enjoyed for years to come!
