My Philosophy of Comprehensive Dental Care

Welcome to my dental practice website. I appreciate having this opportunity to inform you about exthetic and reconstructive dentistry and show you examples of how you can benefit from my services.

Approximately 40% of my time is devoted to treating patients who are not happy with the appearance of their smile. They often have discolored, gapped, crooked, broken, worn, or missing teeth. These problems can often be solved quite rapidly and numerous examples of treatment are illustrated with “before” and “after” case photos in the case studies section of my website. As an accredited member, examiner, and Past President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, I have the necessary skills and talents to help these patients. My personal goal is to provide a beautiful new smile that exceeds their expectations.

About 50% of my time is involved in treating patients with very complex dental problems. This includes patients with numerous missing teeth, TMJ problems, bite problems, gum disease issues, severely mal-aligned teeth, skeletal-facial abnormalities and trauma cases. Many of these patients have been previously restored and their reconstruction has failed. I do more re-do dentistry than virgin treatment. These patients often require one to two years of treatment. I direct a large team of medical and dental specialists, The Phoenix Group, LLC, to provide co-ordinated inter-disciplinary care for these patients. I am often reconstructing the entire mouth by crowning or veneering the remaining teeth and utilizing dental implants to replace missing teeth. The goal of treatment is to provide long-term health, stability, and comfort; therefore, enhancing the patient’s quality of life.

My teaching to dentists and dental technicians around the world is focused on complex esthetic reconstruction.When teaching, I call my summary message the “cosmetic connection”. This mean that once you solve the skeletal-facial issues and the pain has gone away, everyone wants to look great! Again, numerous examples of treatment are illustrated with “before” and “after” case photos in the case studies section of the website.

Finally, about 10% of my practice is basic, general dentistry. In fact, one of my earliest awards was fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, and in 1987, I was elected President of the Arizona Academy of General Dentistry. Patients often ask me, “Can I come to you for regular dentistry?” The answer is, “yes, of course”. Having been in dental practice in Phoenix for 30 years, I value treating three generation of many families. These patients don’t need exotic or complicated dental work. It’s relaxing and just plain fun for me to be an ongoing part of their lives.

You now have a brief outline of what I do, so I will offer you an insight into why I am so passionate about my work. It is because I get to come to my office everyday to help improve my patient’s quality of life. I help them to feel good and look great - what a joy!
